The download file is in a compressed format to alleviate download times. The actual download time depends on your connection speed. For example, one Mbyte (million bytes) of data can be downloaded in 5.4 seconds with a 1.5 Mbps (million bits per second) connection while a 56 Kbps (thousand bits per second) connection will yield a download time of 2.5 minutes for the Mbyte of data.
The downloaded file is a self-extracting DAP file (.exe) which, when executed, will produce a significantly larger DAP song file (.dap) to be stored on your hard disk.
